The Puerto Rican artist Michelle Roman was trained under the apprenticeship of a Catalan goldsmith before moving to Barcelona where she now resides and has set up her studio. For many years Michelle dappled between sculpture and jewelry, sort of torn between the two, before realizing that what she made was wearable art. The idiosyncrasy of her work is testament to the prolific life that she leads and through her brand, MICHI, she welcomes you in. Amongst the collections you will find her “cute animals", which was one of the earlier lines she launched. The deranged and innocent looking creatures allow you to see through Roman’s eyes at a range of species who don’t conventionally communicate using language as we do, and yet they manage to speak to us.
